Mission

FREE ARTS NYC PROVIDES UNDERSERVED CHILDREN BETWEEN THE AGES OF 6-21 WITH A UNIQUE COMBINATION OF EDUCATIONAL ARTS AND MENTORING PROGRAMS THAT HELP THEM FOSTER THE SELF-CONFIDENCE AND RESILIENCY NEEDED TO REALIZE THEIR FULLEST POTENTIAL. SINCE 1997, MORE THAN 35,000 YOUTH AND FAMILIES IN NEW YORK CITY HAVE BENEFITED FROM FREE ARTS NYC NOW FOUR CORE ARTS MENTORING PROGRAMS. THROUGHOUT ITS HISTORY, FREE ARTS NYC HAS WORKED WITH 30+ COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS (PUBLIC AND CHARTER SCHOOLS, SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES, AND COMMUNITY CENTERS), 30+ DEPARTMENT OF HOMELESS SERVICES SHELTERS, 100+ SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE CORPORATIONS, AND 1,000'S OF DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS, TO SERVE YOUTH AGE 4 - 18 AND THEIR PARENTS. SINCE FREE ARTS NYC'S INCEPTION, OUR GOAL HAS REMAINED THE SAME - TO LEVEL THE PLAYING FIELD BY PROVIDING HIGH-QUALITY, POSITIVE MENTORSHIP, GROUNDED IN TRANSFORMATIVE CREATIVE PROGRAMMING, TO COMMUNITIES THAT OTHERWISE WOULD GO WITHOUT.
