THE TRAIL IS A PUBLIC TRAIL OPEN FOR WINTER FREE OF CHARGE, 10,000 SKIER DAYS PER YEAR (ESTIMATE).DEVELOPMENT, MANAGEMENT AND CONSERVATION OF A 300 MILE CROSS COUNTRY SKI TRAIL RUNNING THE LENGTH OF VERMONT, SERVING OVER 2,200 MEMBERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THE TRAIL IS A PUBLIC TRAIL OPEN FOR WINTER FREE OF CHARGE, 10,000 SKIER DAYS PER YEAR (ESTIMATE).
TRAIL MANAGEMENT & PROTECTION: THE CATAMOUNT TRAIL ASSOCIATION DEVELOPS, MANAGES, AND CONSERVES THE CATAMOUNT TRAIL, A PUBLIC-ACCESS SKI TRAIL. THE CATAMOUNT TRAIL AND RELATED TRAIL NETWORKS ARE UNIQUE RESOURCES FOR WINTER RECREATION AND IMPORTANT CONSERVATION AND ECONOMIC ASSETS FOR THE PEOPLE AND STATE OF VERMONT. THE CTA BUILDS PARTNERSHIPS TO SUPPORT THE TRAIL, AND FOSTERS AWARENESS AND STEWARDSHIP OF VERMONT'S DIVERSE LANDSCAPES THROUGH PROMOTION AND USE OF THE TRAIL. CTA ALSO ADVOCATES BACKCOUNTRY AND CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING FOR THE QUALITY OF LIFE, RECREATIONAL, HEALTH, ECONOMIC AND EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS THEY PROVIDE. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O: OTHER PROGRAMS INCLUDE: SKI CUBS: SKI CUBS IS AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM OF THE CATAMOUNT TRAIL ASSOCIATION FOCUSED ON INTRODUCING YOUTH TO CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING AS A MEANS TO PROMOTE HEALTHY LIFESTYLES FOR VERMONT FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES. SKI CUBS COLLABORATES WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS AND SCHOOLS TO SERVE PARTICIPANTS WITH LIMITED RESOURCES AND LIMITED ACCESS TO WINTER SPORTS OPPORTUNITIES. THIS PROGRAM EMPOWERS VERMONT YOUTH TO ENJOY AN ACTIVE, OUTDOOR LIFESTYLE DURING THE WINTER. TOURS: CTA OFFERS MULTI-DAY TOURS (MDTS) AND SINGLE-DAY TOURS (SDTS). MDTS PROVIDE AN OPPORTUNITY FOR MEMBERS TO SKI MANY SECTIONS OF THE CT IN ONE WINTER. CTA OFFERS TWO WEEKLONG TOURS (WLTS) AND TWO FOUR-DAY TOURS (4DTS) AS WELL AS OCCASIONAL SPECIAL TOURS. SDTS ARE OPEN TO NON-MEMBERS. EVENTS: RACE TO THE TOP OF VERMONT, WHICH IS HELD EACH YEAR IN AUGUST, IS CTA'S PRIMARY FUNDRAISING EVENT. EDUCATIONAL EVENTS (INCLUDING THE LADIES NORDIC SKI EXPO AND THE GET OUT AND BACKCOUNTRY SKI INSTRUCTIONAL SERIES) ARE HELD PRIMARILY IN THE WINTER MONTHS. VERMONT BACKCOUNTRY ALLIANCE: THE VERMONT BACKCOUNTRY ALLIANCE (VTBC) SEEKS TO PROTECT, ADVANCE AND ADVOCATE FOR HUMAN-POWERED BACKCOUNTRY SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING IN VERMONT. THE VTBC FACILITATES PUBLIC ACCESS TO BACKCOUNTRY TERRAIN WHILE PROMOTING THE CONSERVATION AND RESPONSIBLE MANAGEMENT OF OUR MOUNTAIN ENVIRONMENT. VTBC IS A PROGRAM OF THE CATAMOUNT TRAIL ASSOCIATION (CTA) GUIDED BY THE VTBC WORKING GROUP, A DIVERSE COMMUNITY OF BACKCOUNTRY SKIERS AND RIDERS.
