OLVF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: In 2017, OLVF added the Las Vegas Community Healing Garden as a community engagement project. OLVF is honored to care this Garden, established as a place of compassion in the aftermath of the October 2017 tragedy. This follows in a tradition of collaboration and engagement since our inception. Engagement efforts remain underway for the Vegas Valley Rim Trail, a multi-use pedestrian hike/bike path that will one day be over 100+ miles around. Portions are already complete - the VVRT includes the Las Vegas Wash Trail, the McCullough Hills Trail, sections of the 215 trail, and the Clark County north and south loop. Since 2014, the River Mountains Loop Trail Partnership (RMLTP) has been an OLVF Project. The RMLTP includes individuals and agencies who helped to create this trail and now focus on continuing to connect the community to this wonderful 35-mile trail experience through outreach and volunteer events. OLVF is also home to the Lower Colorado River Water Alliance (LCRTWA). LCRTWA supports for programs for youth, develops cleanup events, and has published a guide to the Black Canyon.

OLVF VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS: OLVF organizes volunteer programs supporting the beautification and support of parks and trails in partnership with the municipalities. OLVF's first volunteer event was held in February 2012, since that time, the program has generated almost 25,000 volunteer hours! Volunteering connects people to others and to the community; strengthens family ties; and is good for the mind and body. Studies show that it increases confidence while combatting depression. The estimate value of a volunteer hour is $24.19. That means that since 2012, OLVF's Outdoor Volunteer Program has generated $570,000 of in-kind value through volunteer hours. Get Outdoors Nevada Day celebrates the incredible array of outdoor activities in Nevada. The 2017 Get Outdoors Nevada Day was held at Cornerstone Park, with the City of Henderson as our host. The day drew 3,500 visitors and exhibitors. Attendees enjoyed kayaking, archery, BMX demos.
