ADDITIONALLY, MORE THAN 1,108 INDIVIDUALS GRADUATED FROM COOKING MATTERS AT THE STORE, A ONE-TIME, SHOPPING-HEALTHY-ON-A-BUDGET CLASS.COOKING MATTERS (CM) IS A NATIONAL NUTRITION EDUCATION PROGRAM DESIGNED TO TEACH FAMILIES WITH LOW-INCOME HOW TO PREPARE HEALTHY MEALS ECONOMICALLY. LED BY VOLUNTEER CHEFS AND NUTRITIONISTS, CM TEACHES STUDENTS COOKING, SHOPPING, AND BUDGETING SKILLS. Program graduates saved an average of $260 per year through improved food management skills. This equated to $1.93 million in economic benefit to households.
