The symposium is designed for a general audience and it gives members of the general public a chance to meet and discuss a contemporary topic with scholars, experts and other audience members. This year's topic was entitled, "In Justice: Rethinking America's Criminal Justice System," and it featured scholars, experts and those involved in the criminal justice system discussing the challenges they face. The one-day symposium attracted an audience of approximately 400 people.

This year's topic was entitled, "iHuman," and it featured a journalist, a pioneer in virtual reality, an attorney and several scholars discussing the internet, social media and its effects on society. The one-day symposium attracted an audience of approximately 300 people.GAME CHANGER SERIES: An annual symposium featuring nationally-recognized scholars and experts dealing with a contemporary issue. the symposium is designed for a general audience and it gives members of the general public a chance to meet and discuss a contemporary topic with scholars, experts and other audience members. This year's topic was entitled, "Between Two Worlds: America and the Middle East," and it featured a journalist, a former Marine veteran, an immigrant, an Islamic convert, a poet and more. The event was held at the Fargo Theatre in Fargo, ND and attracted an audience of approximately 200 people.

The NDHC has two types of grants available for humanities projects: quick grants ($1,500 or less) and large grants (greater than $1,500). The NDHC awarded 26 quick grants and 17 large grants (a total of 43 grants).
