St. Joseph's Catholic Church Concert & Fundraiser (Spreading awareness in America post 3/11/11) On Sunday, April 1st, Madi Sato offered a concert to honor the one year memorial of the devastating tsunami and earthquake in northeastern Japan. The concert was held at the beautiful St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cerrillos, New Mexico. Madi opened the event with a traditional Shinto chant called the Amatsunorito (Heavenly Prayer). Through the concert, her beautiful singing was accompanied by the powerful and sacred sounds of taiko drums (Koji Nakamura and Crestone Kaminari Taiko) , koto (Yukiko Matsuyama), piano (John Rangel), and poetry (Timothy P. McLaughlin.) The music was deeply felt by all in attendance and universally understood as a great prayer of compassion, healing, and love for the people and lands of Japan.
