Primary exempt purpose   Solidarity with the Persecuted Church exists to help the Christian Church persevere and triumph where it confronts persecution. We do this by allowing local bishops either to feed their flock (providing food, water, shelter and basic health care) or to undertake development projects, such as building churches, health clinics and schools. Solidarity with the Persecuted Church is ecumenical, that is open to working with all elements of the Christian Church, and it has no a priori preferences with regard to the kind of projects it supports.

In 2015, Solidarity with the Persecuted Church worked with the Christian Church displaced by the Islamic State in northern Iraq. We contributed to the delivery of education to displaced Christian children by providing an electrical generator and other infrastructure items for schools serving that population in the Kurdistan region of Iraq. We provided hygiene items to displaced Christians through the Holy Family Center of Erbil, and worked with the Holy Family Center toward establishing a microfinance program so that displaced Christians could buy tools to practice their trades or open businesses. SPC personnel traveled to the Kurdistan region of Iraq in order to develop relationships with potential partners and to identify human needs which we could ameliorate. This activity directly generated no program revenue.
