THE TERRITORIAL DEFENSE PROGRAM TRAINED 12 INDIGENOUS PEOPLE IN LEGAL DEFENSE AND HUMAN RIGHTS SKILLS THROUGH A SERIES OF 10 INTERACTIVE PRACTICAL TRAININGS; SUPPORTED THE ISSUING OF 179 COMPLAINTS, REPORTS OR REQUESTS WRITTEN BY THE TRAINED, INDIGENOUS LEGAL DEFENDERS; AND FILED WITH VARIOUS PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS AND COURTS IN RELATION TO COMMUNITY-BASED AND INDIGENOUS-LED LEGAL PROCESSES. THE MAPPING PROJECT OF THE TERRITORIAL DEFENSE PROGRAM ALSO TRAINED 8 PEOPLE IN USING GIS SOFTWARE, COMPASSES AND GPS DEVICES AND SUPPORTED 2 PILOT PROJECTS TO MAP OVER 100,000 ACRES OF INDIGENOUS ANCESTRAL TERRITORY. THE ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING PROJECT OF THE TERRITORIAL DEFENSE PROGRAM COLLECTED OVER 100 FISH TISSUE SAMPLES FOR ANALYSIS OF BIOACCUMULATION OF INDUSTRIAL CONTAMINANTS.
