AS THE ALLIANCE CONTINUES TO ESTABLISH AND BUILD ITS CAPACITY AS THE DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE COALITION FOR THE TERRITORY, IT HAS OVERCOME SEVERAL OBSTACLES, CHALLENGES, AND IT IS ON THE "COME BACK" IN CELEBRATING ITS' SUCCESSES. IN 2015, THE ALLIANCE WAS ABLE TO SECURE THE REINSTATEMENT OF ITS 501(C)(3) STATUS. IT HAS REMAINED TRUE TO NURTURING STRONG RELATIONSHIPS, ESTABLISHING STRONG PROCESSES AND DOCUMENTING ACHIEVABLE OUTCOMES AND RESULTS. IN 2015, THE ALLIANCE FOCUSED ON WORKING WITH NATIONAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDERS THAT FOCUSED ON ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING WHICH IN TURN HAS POSITIVELY IMPACTED THE ALLIANCE'S CREDIBILITY WITHIN THE TERRITORY. THE ALLIANCE HAS CONTINUED TO COMMIT TO CULTURALLY DIVERSE APPROACHES AND INITIATIVES IN BUILDING UPON ITS AWARENESS, EDUCATION, AND A STRONG COMMITMENT TO INTEGRATED COMMUNITY OUTREACHES WITH A SPECIFIC FOCUS ON SCHOOLS, THE TERRITORY'S ONLY COMMUNITY COLLEGE, AND THE LOCAL HOSPITAL. IN ADDITION, THE ALLIANCE INCREASED ITS EFFORTS IN ITS WORK BETWEEN GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY AGENCIES. MORE SPECIFICALLY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND INTO OCTOBER 2015'S NATIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE MONTH, OVER 400 COLLEGE STUDENTS WERE SURVEYED WITH THESE RESULTS BEING MADE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC. AS WITH MANY OTHER ACTIVITIES THAT THE ALLIANCE HAS TERMED "SEI" (STEALTH ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVE), WHICH IS THE FLOWER WORN BY WOMEN BEHIND THEIR EARS IN THE PACIFIC, THIS APPROACH IS DESCRIBED IN BOTH GRANTS. THIS INVOLVES A RATHER "SILENT" WAY OF WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY THROUGH STRENGTHENING INTER- AGENCY PARTNERSHIPS THROUGH CULTURALLY SPECIFIC ACTIVIES WITH OTHER COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS. THIS STRATEGY HAS BEEN ADOPTED BY THE ALLIANCE'S BOARD IN LIFTING THE VEIL OF SILENCE THAT PERPETUATES THE VIOLENCE WITHIN OUR ISLAND COMMUNITY BY COUNTERING WITH OFTEN DISGUISED, BUT VERY "SAFE" STRATEGIES THAT THE ALLIANCE HAS MANAGED TO WEAVE INTO ITS' ACTIVITIES. IN ADDITION TO SEI APPROACHES, THE ALLIANCE WORKED AND IDENTIFIED SPECIFIC PARTNERS IN 2015 WHERE SURVEYS AND FOCUS GROUPS WERE CONDUCTED. THIS INCLUDED, BUT WAS NOT LIMITED TO, AMERICAN SAMOA COMMUNITY COLLEGE, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH DISPENSARIES, DOWNTOWN MARKET PLACE, GOVERNMENT INITIATIVES, AND CULTURAL GATHERINGS.
