THE JEWISH COMMUNITY LEGACY PROJECT IS COMMITTED TO HELPING SMALL JEWISH COMMUNITIES HONOR THEIR PASTS WHILE PLANNING FOR THEIR FUTURES. THE JCLP IS A RESOURCE FOR SMALL CONGREGATIONS LOCATED OUTSIDE OF METROPOLITAN AREAS THAT HAVE AN AGING POPULATION AND DWINDLING LEADERSHIP AND A DESIRE TO INSURE THEIR LEGACY.

Assisted with the development of a meaningful plan for the future legacy of Bnai Israel Congregation in Auburn NY which included giving new life to community assets, religious and historic artifacts. Facilitated a relationship between Temple Sinai of Sumter, SC with Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim that allows the congregation to continue to gather in prayer. Provided guidance to implement a fiscal management plan and establish an endowment fund that ensures Temple Sinai and its history will be remembered and Jewish charities will be funded in the future.

THE JCLP ALSO PROVIDED GUIDANCE TO IMPLEMENT FISCAL MANAGEMENT PLANS FOR CONGREGATIONS AND ENDOWMENT FUNDS THAT ENSURE CONGREGATIONS AND THEIR HISTORIES WILL BE REMEMBERED AND JEWISH CHARITIES WILL BE FUNDED IN THE FUTURE. THE COMMUNITIES AND CONGREGATIONS SERVED BY THE JCLP INCLUDING A BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE EXTENT OF THE ORGANIZATIONS ACTIVITIES FOLLOW: ARKANSAS FORT SMITH, HOT SPRINGS AND JONESBORO: THE PLANNING PROCESS HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND THE LEGACY PLANS WILL BE IMPLEMENTED BY THE END OF 2017. CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA REGION HAZELTON: MET WITH THE DIRECTOR OF THE CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA JEWISH FOUNDATION TO DISCUSS A POTENTIAL ROLE OF THE FOUNDATION AS FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONAL PARTNER FOR OVERSIGHT OF THE CONGREGATION'S CEMETERY. POTTSVILLE: LEGACY PLAN WILL BE COMPLETED BY THE END OF DECEMBER 2017. GEORGIA BAINBRIDGE: ENGAGED THE CONGREGATION AND LEGACY PLAN WILL BE COMPLETED BY THE END OF DECEMBER 2017. JOSEPH: MEETING WITH THE KANSAS CITY JEWISH FOUNDATION; AGREEMENT BY THE TWO SYNAGOGUES TO ENGAGE THE FOUNDATION AS THEIR FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONAL PARTNER; GATHERING INFORMATION ABOUT THE STATUS OF SYNAGOGUE ENDOWMENTS. MAINE AUBURN: COMPLETING THE LEGACY PLANNING PROCESS INCLUDING CLOSING THE SYNAGOGUE. IN THE PROCESS OF DONATING RELIGIOUS ARTICLES, A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF WHICH WILL APPEAR IN THE 2018 MAINE HISTORICAL EXHIBITION ON THE JEWS OF MAINE; DISCUSSIONS FOR THE REFORM TEMPLE IN AUBURN TO PROVIDE OVERSIGHT OF THE CEMETERY. MISSISSIPPI AND ALABAMA MET WITH INSTITUTE OF SOUTHERN JEWISH LIVING TO DISCUSS APPROACHING AND SERVING ABOUT 6 MISSISSIPPI CONGREGATIONS AND SEVERAL ADDITIONAL CONGREGATIONS IN THE ISJL AREA.
