New Directions Adolescent Services provides special education and counseling/therapy services to fifty (50) high risk youth in two classrooms.New Directions has a 31 year history of providing the highest quality mental health care and academic services to Sonoma County teens. Children accepted into our day treatment program receive intensive special education assistance, through our non-public school. Behavioral and academic skills needed for school success are strongly emphasized. At the same time, they receive frequent and comprehensive psychotherapeutic support which includes intensive individual, group and family therapy, as well as Art Therapy. Parent education and support groups are provided. Many of the teens being served at New Directions would be placed out of home were it not for the services provided by the agency. The program's cost effectiveness is most impressive. We provide more comprehensive therapeutic services at a dramatically lower cost than alternative means of sufficient help. Referrals to Day Treatment include youths whose emotional difficulties require special services beyond what weekly outpatient therapy provides.
