MULTIDISCIPLINARY ASSESSMENT TEAM (MAT) PROGRAM: IS TO PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT OF THE MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS OF CHILDREN WHO HAVE ENTERED THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM. PROVIDING ENHANCED EARLY ASSESSMENT OF THE MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS OF CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE WILL DECREASE THE AMOUNT OF TIME THOSE CHILDREN WAIT WITHOUT RECEIVING TREATMENT FOR THEIR ONGOING MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS. CHILDREN RECEIVING MAT ASSESSMENT WILL BENEFIT FROM A REDUCTION IN THEIR MENTAL HEALTH SYMPTOMS AND AN INCREASE IN THEIR ABILITY TO MEET THEIR DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES THROUGH COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT AND EXPEDITED ENROLLMENT IN TREATMENT SERVICES. THE ASSESSMENT PROVIDES REFERRALS TO THE FAMILY FOR SUPPORT SERVICES AIMED TO INCREASE THEIR ABILITY TO PROVIDE AN APPROPRIATE ENVIRONMENT FOR THE CHILD. THEREFORE, IN ADDITION TO ADDRESSING THE SPECIFIC MENTAL HEALTH NEEDS OF THE CHILD, THE MAT ASSESSMENT PROCESS ALSO FACILITATES STRIDES TOWARDS EITHER REUNIFICATION OR MORE SECURE/PERMANENT PLACEMENTS FOR THE CLIENTS.

THE EVIDENCE, BASED TREATMENT MODELS WE USE, ADDRESS SPECIFIC, TYPICAL PROBLEMS REPORTED IN OUR POPULATION OF FOSTER CARE AND DCFS-INVOLVED CHILDREN, INCLUDING PTSD, DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS, INADEQUATE PARENTING SKILLS AND ATTACHMENT ISSUES. THE ORGANIZATION STRIVES TO BRING EFFECTIVE BASED TREATMENT TO THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND CAREGIVERS WE SERVE. AS A CLINIC WITHOUT WALLS, THE SERVICE DELIVERY MODEL AIMS TO INCREASE THE CONTINUITY OF MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT TO FOSTER CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES BY PROVIDING IN-HOME THERAPY AND THE ABILITY TO FOLLOW A CHILD WHO IS MOVED. THE ORGANIZATION ONLY USES LICENSED THERAPISTS AND MAINTAINS HIGH STANDARDS OF TREATMENT AND MODEL FIDELITY.THE PARENT CHILD INTERACTION THERAPY (PCIT) PROGRAM: IT IS AN EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAM FOR PARENTS OF YOUNG CHILDREN, AGES 2 TO 7 YEARS, WITH BEHAVIORAL PROBLEMS. THE PROGRAM WORKS WITH PARENTS AND CHILDREN TOGETHER TO TEACH PARENTS HOW TO EFFECTIVELY REDUCE THEIR CHILD'S PROBLEM BEHAVIORS, INCLUDING AGGRESSION, DISOBEDIENCE, DEFIANCE, AND TEMPER TANTRUMS. PCIT IS A PROVEN TREATMENT PROGRAM THAT CREATES POSITIVE PARENT-CHILD RELATIONSHIPS WHILE IMPROVING PARENTING SKILLS. THROUGH TEACHING PARENTS ABOUT HEALTHY ATTACHMENT, EFFECTIVE DISCIPLINE AND CHILD MANAGEMENT SKILLS, C4K'S (COUNSELING4KIDS) PCIT PROGRAM WILL HELP IMPROVE THEIR CHILD'S BEHAVIOR. PARENTS RECEIVE LIVE COACHING ON PARENTING, COMMUNICATION AND DISCIPLINE SKILLS WHILE THEY INTERACT WITH THEIR CHILDREN. WHILE PARENTS AND CHILDREN HAVE "SPECIAL PLAY TIME," A PCIT THERAPIST IS SITTING BEHIND A ONE-WAY MIRROR GUIDING THE PARENT ON WHAT TO SAY AND DO THROUGH AN "EAR BUG" AUDIO DEVICE. THIS LIVE COACHING AND GUIDANCE TEACHES PARENTS HOW TO RESPOND TO THEIR CHILDREN'S BEHAVIORS IN THE MOMENT. PARENTS WILL LEARN AND PRACTICE SKILLS SUCH AS GIVING PRAISE TO INCREASE POSITIVE BEHAVIORS, SETTING LIMITS ON PROBLEM BEHAVIORS, AND GIVING TIME OUTS. PCIT SERVES CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN THE BURBANK CLINIC LOCATION.
